Halloween. Today of all days, Nikolai was used to some kind of fuss going on outside, people in costumes (beyond just what they wore to work on movie sets, of course), parties, the whole nine yards. And he'd even contemplated going to the party in town for a bit, but he didn't have a costume of his own, and he'd taken one step outside, was hit upside the head by a falling Snickers bar, and had 'noped' his way straight to the Causeway.

Baltimore had been far more his speed tonight, anyhow. Parties all over, bars full up with people celebrating being something they weren't. It was no L.A., no, but a city was a city, and he was thankful for the chance to get off the island for a bit and just be surrounded by people who weren't going to look at him too hard for wearing his sunglasses after dark. And if the crowds were too thick, there was nothing stopping him from ducking into a side road or an alley just to get some space, to make certain nobody jostled him hard enough to make him lose his shades or something.

It was some young man's lucky day, apparently, when one such alleyway had him tripping over some kid being mugged by a pair of goons wearing rubber masks. Fuck, the kid couldn't be older than fifteen, dressed up like one of those Hero's Duty soldiers, though the prop gun he'd been carrying clearly wasn't doing him any big favors against Brat Sampson and King Kong, here. Against what he figured was his better judgment, Nikolai had stepped in, scuffling with the pair long enough for the kid to scamper off before yanking his shades off and sending both of the muggers to their knees.

Huh.

He hadn't stayed out much later, his trip back to the island involving a few acrobatics along the way that he hadn't been aware he was capable of before he made his way up to his room, and, convinced up, down, and sideways that he was losing his mind, he made some calls to a few of his acquaintances in costuming back in Hollywood. Tonight had given him an idea, and while he was sure he was crazy, well, he wouldn't know just how crazy until he gave it a shot, right? Seemed to be working for heroes like The Mighty Dragon and The Awesome Ape, so what if...

"What, the body armor? It's a gift for Colin- He's playing a SWAT cop and wants to get used to the weight. I know it's bending the rules, thanks so much."

"Yeah, that reinforced leather duster is for you-know-who. They have a weird fetish, what can I say?"

"The goggles are for a movie being shot in Hungary. Yeah. Yeah, I know, outsourcing sucks. Yeah, keep the jobs in Hollywood, I know, right? But a job's a job, fuckin' shame everything's gone digital. Yeah, camera irises. Yeah, some spares couldn't hurt, you know how they are in those overseas films, doing their own stunts and everything. When? Let's say next week. Yeah, ship 'em out to me, I'll pass 'em on to György personally. Blueprints and design notes? Yeah, couldn't hurt, in case they need to do on-set repairs. On the film. Yeah..."
